The idea

A problem that everyone knows: You're out and about - whether watching football on the sports field, walking the dog or on the way to work - and it's raining. You have an umbrella in one hand and a coffee, tea or whatever you like to drink to go in the other. Then your cell phone rings. Hectically and uncomfortably, you clamp the umbrella between your shoulder and head to have one hand free. But there's still the drink! Where do you put it?

While you're juggling your phone and drink, the umbrella keeps slipping. You try to hold it in place while still balancing the drink. The cup tips over, the coffee splashes, and the phone falls into a puddle. Sounds dramatic? But unfortunately it can happen faster than you think. That's why we've developed a solution to the problem.

The founding

After about 2 years of brainstorming, drawing, building CAD designs, very little sleep, a few setbacks and many prototypes, the perfect solution to the problem was born: Cupbrella. Our motto: "Be different, be the one"! Because we don't just want to offer a classic umbrella; it should be your all-in-one umbrella that always accompanies you. We were soon ready to start production of the first series.

The first big steps have been taken and now we want to bring it to the people: Cupbrella – the umbrella with a minimalist design that simply offers you more flexibility when you are on the go.

"The Lion's Den"

Exciting. Thrilling. Thrilling.

From the first moment we had the idea for the clever all-in-one umbrella with integrated cup holder, have we wanted to be able to make it a big hit? Of course! After all, you develop a product like this with the idea that lots of people could use it and that it can make everyday life easier. Did we firmly believe that Cupbrella would be so incredibly successful and popular that we would be able to present the umbrella on the VOX start-up show “The Lion’s Den”? That was perhaps beyond our imagination at the time.

The deal is done!

We are all the more delighted to be able to bring our innovative and practical umbrella to the public on a large scale - with the help of a very specific lion. Secretly, Ralf Dümmel was our favorite for a collaboration. Not only because of his expertise in product marketing, but also because we saw in Ralf the lion who best fits our everyday helper. And what can we say? Our greatest wish has come true: the deal with Ralf is secure! We are really looking forward to the collaboration.
